What is your question?
2003 pontiac aztec. No blower control. No prior erratic or intermittent problems. Feels like the selector itself is stripped. I took the knob off and dont feel any "clicks" when making speed selection. It freely moves but blows nothing. I see alot of issues with the resistor but am concerned with the free feel when turning the knob.
How long has your 2005 Chevrolet Express 1500 had this problem?
A few months. I made it through the summer no AC but now my toes are getting cold

Hello, If turning the knob does not offer resistance as it passed through the individual settings, I would be concerned about its' functionality as well. You can test whether or not it is functioning by setting it in each position and reading for signal on the wire for that position, then repeat for all positions. When the resistor goes bad, the blower motor should work only on the highest setting, and that is only if the fuse and relay and blower motor are functional.
Thank you for your response. I am going to try a resistor first. A friend tested and said no power going to the motor. I say if its stuck in the off position there WOULDNT be any. But, I am a girl .... HE knows best ... If the resistor doesn't solve the problem, may I chat with you again? As I haven't been able to find any repair manuals or diagrams re: replacing the selector switch or if thats even a viable option. If the control head needs to be replaced, ($$$) I am in for a long cold winter.
No long winter, just get one from a reputable salvage who offers a warranty if yours has failed. The resistor is probably not the issue. No power to the motor, but is there power to the resistor? Before replacing the resistor, he needs to check for power at the output for each individual setting coming from the control module. I bet there is none, and I think you diagnosed it when you noticed there was no resistance when clicking into different positions. In fact, he could even put direct power to the blower motor to see if it runs.. I think it will. Sure, let me know of any questions you have.
