My fuel pump quit so I replaced it and it ran for about 20 minutes and I shut it off. The transmission is out so I didn't drive it. I came out a few days later to start it and it would not start only cranks and I can't hear the pump running. I ask them at the parts house about replacing the new fuel pump and was told that my computer would shut down the fuel pump if my spark was yellow or not hot enough. Is this the case or am I getting the run around so they don't have to replace a faulty pump they sold me?

The computer has no way to tell how "hot" the spark is. I would recommend you check fuel pressure and volume.
