Was it doing this before the timing chain was replaced? Is the engine light on? Is the fuel pressure right? Is the distributor functioning properly? Have you tried cleaning the fuel injectors? Look up the code retrieval procedure. Its bound to be online some were. normaly the engine control module (ecm) is under one of the seats on pre obd II vehicles and the code retrieval method is outlined in the Haynes manual you can get at most part houses. ( or take a snap of with a good cell phone camera in store.) Could be a bare or rubbed wire on the injector harness contacting the engine.......????? Does it get up to highway speed??
Was doing this before any repairs. Had injectors cleaned. Will get up to speed but you have to granny it (very slowly give it gas). Ploblem is now fixed. Replaced Fuel Pump, was not providing enough fuel to injectors.
