temperature gauge on dash

just bought my truck, the temp. gauge didn't work. So I replaced the TEMPERATURE SENSOR and the TEMPERATURE SWITCH. Now the only time I see it move is when I turn the key to start the truck. The needle goes ALL THE WAY TO HOT...THEN BACK..........HELP

Temp sensor was not needed because it is for fuel injection system and not related to dash gauge. The sender was a good guess but based off of the problems you list sounds like gauge problem, may be printed circuit board at back of dash gauge panel but I doubt it.
