My oil pressure sending unit is not where it has been in the past. Where did it go?

My iol pressure began to flucuate then went away. I know it is not a mechanical problem because I continue to drive it with no overheating or rattles or clashing and nashing of teeth. I am used to the sending unit being on the left side of engine block. It ain't there no more. I have the 4 volumn manufaturers repair manual and it does not tell me where it is. $126 shot to hell. Where did the genius engineers hide it from us old shade tree mechanics? The old shade tree has lost all it's leaves.
