Complete power off without warning

This evening I pulled out of the drive way and put it in drive, stepped on the gas and started to pull away when with out any warning the truck completely shut off. I mean every thing dome lights, headlights, radio. Just completely everything. It was like watching a sci-fi movie. lol After approx 2 mins, lights and interior lights came back on, I then restarted and everything seemed normal and it drive just fine. I am concerned about what could have caused this and what to do so that it is never a problem again as this is our family vehicle.
