2021 Cadillac XT6 Bottom behind gas pedal and break exposed

I have a 2021 Cadillac XT6 however I noticed that behind the break pedal and gas pedal I can see a piece that must connect to the steering wheel mechanism. Is this something that is a normal manufacture thing? I don have images that would better explain my concern.

Hello, my best answer would be: compare to a "like" vehicle. So, I'd recommend seeing your local Cadillac dealership and ask them to visually look at this. It shouldn't cost you to do that. They will know what is and is not present.
