Does a 2011 Cad SRX have 2 catalytic converters?

What is your question?

The check engine light came on, it was diagnosed as a problem with the catalytic converter. The repair shop said one catalytic converter was bad and the other was on it's way to going bad. Our state, CA requires a smog check.

What makes this problem better or worse?
