What is your question?
Air conditioner blows cool air when first activated. Then after short period of time, no cool air only ambient air. Everyone says it’s the compressor. I’ve never had an air conditioner go bad. I’ve heard that the “evaporator sensor unit?” may need to be cleaned. I can’t locate that unit and not sure that’s the problem. Also been told that it could be a fuse? I fear getting scammed by someone charging me not only for an unleaded part, but also fou excessive mechanic time.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Cool in shade, not cool in very short time out of shade or in sun.
How long has your 2006 Cadillac SRX had this problem?
More than a month

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. I cannot condemn a compressor without a full evaluation of the AC system. It could be a bunch of causes - diagnostic testing by a skilled technican is essential. For example, if there is insufficient airflow at the condenser, you won't get cooling. Is the condenser fan operating properly? Several other possible influences as well. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
