Anti-theft lock

Based on the symptoms you have described and with this being a GM model vehicle this concern can indicate that your vehicle battery has failed or that it may have loose or corroded connections. Anytime the battery voltage becomes low on this model this can prevent the key from rotating to the full off position, this can also cause the anti theft warning to come on and prevents the engine from starting. This very well could be an anti theft component itself at fault as well. The first thing I recommend is having your vehicle battery checked to see if it is low on voltage. If the battery is found to be o.k. then I would recommend having it looked into further by a reputable repair facility where they would be able to perform some diagnostic and electrical testing to help pinpoint the concern.
