the rattling is near the steering column. the car also bounces a lot and the service stability indicator light has been popping up. is this an inidcation that the shocks/struts need replacemnet or something else and what is the estimated cost of repair?

I had the same problem just recently, and I can tell you there were more problems then I thought once they did the diagnostics on my car. Found out there was a lot of damage to the electrical bd, sparks etc. By the time they were finished it set me back $1530.00. My car will be paid off in September 2012. How ironic. I bought the car because it had one owner (leased), low mileage. I only have 61,000 miles on it. Never had to pay this much in maintenance until now. Amazing!
soorry I don't have the answer to your problem. My 04 is doing the same thing only without the noise. If you find out why it is bouncing, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. I will do the same for you. Thanks
