How do you remove the back three bolts on the wheel bearing when the axle is in the way
1 Reply
Hi, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Accessing the rear bolts on the wheel bearing hub assembly on a 2016 Cadillac CT6 typically requires removing the axle shaft first to gain the clearance needed to reach those bolts. This generally means disconnecting the axle from the hub and carefully repositioning it out of the way, which involves removing the axle nut, disconnecting the lower suspension components to allow enough droop, and in some cases partially removing the axle from the differential side to create enough room. That being said, this is a fairly involved job that requires the right tools including a proper axle puller, torque wrench, and knowledge of the specific torque specs for the CT6's suspension components. Incorrectly reassembling suspension and axle components can create serious safety issues, and an alignment is strongly recommended after the repair is complete. It may not be a bad idea to have a quality shop handle this one due to all that is involved.
