thumping dull noise coming out of the trunk area

replaced top shock absorbers new rear shocks now with 45,000 on them. still thumping mostly on old roads not new smooth ones.

well i do need a serious answer to this problem. Nobody seems to know where this noise is coming from. could it be the cover over the spare tire. The spared tire is secure in the trunk.
