Why there's a solid light check engine on display?

What is your question?

It started 2 days ago. Only after if long time car rested, first time engine started and it is exhausting smell comes. Then after that no smell. Two days ago after I started engine. Drove 20 feet in reverse , then put on a parking, and after that engine turned off itself.

What makes this problem better or worse?

I am thinking it maybe weather got cold
