smelling gas

if the smell is strong only inside the car, i would first check the seals on the fuel sending units under the rear seat. there are two; be sure to check both. if the smell is stronger outside the car, the possibilities are many: leaking fuel hose somewhere, punctured fuel tank, leaking injector and so on. leaking gasoline is nothing to play around with; get this fixed as soon as possible. think of your BMW engulfed in flames.....while driving.

I had the same problem under the rear seat one of the hose camps was broken on the fuel pump.
