My S5 is approaching 80,000 miles, I am told I will need to replace the timing chain soon, is that correct? And if it is what is the approximate cost ? Thanx

Hello, Timing chains require no maintenance, however, there is a known issue with 3.0TFSI that requires replacing one of the tensioners for the timing chain. I believe it was the cam chain tensioners, but the parts were not revised until 2015 or 2016. You may want to contact the dealership to ask if there are any known issues with the timing chain, guides, or tensioners, and to see if your vehicle is recalled for this or anything else. Otherwise, listen for any kind of timing chain noise, especially a tapping or slapping noise at the first start-up of the day.
