Why does my car leak so much water and the coolant light pops up, it steams whefoesntoverheat

As I drive for 3 miles my coolant light turns on and me adding water won't help since there is a crack on my radiator that prevents from water staying on the car

What makes this problem better or worse?

when driving for a long distance or local it constantly needs water
