Mazda CX-5 air conditioning functioning at maximum capacity on Mazda CX-5

Problem overview

Some Mazda CX-5 owners report experiencing challenges with the air conditioning system when operating at maximum capacity. To achieve optimal cooling, owners must set the temperature control dial to the extreme cold position and ensure the air intake selector is on recirculated air, with the fan control dial turned fully clockwise. For effective defrosting, it is necessary to activate the air conditioner, set the temperature to extreme hot, and again turn the fan control dial fully clockwise. Additionally, some owners notice that the air intake selector's position affects system efficiency, as it may automatically switch to recirculated air when outside temperatures exceed 73°F (23℃). Furthermore, the A/C ECO function aims to optimize performance, but it may not operate effectively when outside temperatures approach 0 °C (32 °F). These considerations are crucial for maintaining the air conditioning system's performance in the Mazda CX-5.
