Ford Escape blue paint chipping issue affecting multiple vehicles on Ford Escape

Problem overview

Some 2017 Ford Escape owners report experiencing widespread blue paint chipping, particularly on the driver side windshield A-pillar. This issue has been noted even on low-mileage vehicles, raising concerns about the quality of the paint used. Additionally, a source from an auto body school has indicated that the blue paint from Ford in 2017 is prone to chipping and flaking, leading to questions about the lack of a recall for this known problem. While owners of other Ford models, such as the 2013 F-150 Limited, have not reported similar paint issues, it appears that the paint chipping problem may be specific to certain models or years of the Ford Escape. Furthermore, this paint issue is not limited to the Escape, as some Ford vehicles from 2013 to 2018, including the Explorer, Expedition, and Mustang, are also experiencing corrosion and paint deterioration.
