I would have to say yes to your ? Since its the wifes vehicle the car has overheated also at this point the car has no heat at all and the top radiator hose is hot

ok. you need to get a hydrocarbon check to see if you blew a head gasket. it is simple test done by a shop. if it passes, then you probably need a heater core. You can reply by hitting the reply button at the bottom and it will go to my email. Roy
I did smell a strong exhaust fume at one point and if the heads are bad can the heads be replaced without removing the intake manifold
no, the intake must come off. before you assume the worse, get that test done to confirm. replacing the heater core is much cheaper than head gaskets. Roy
