What is your question?
The oil pressure warning light is staying on but the oil level is OK. I put in a new pressure switch but didn't solve the problem. I took off the oil filter and oil GUSHES out when cranking ... implying the oil pump is actually OK. The truck has 180K mi. I'd rather spend $5,000 on a new engine than $2,000 on a new oil pump for a tired engine.

You could have a faulty oil filter. I don't know what kind of filter you are using but sometimes a cheap oil filter will cause this problem. Also what is the oil pressure? If it is too low you may have worn cam journals. You could try some of the Lucas oil treatment that may help. If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 650 3693022
I would suggest putting a manual oil pressure gauge on in place of the sending unit to see what the actual oil pressure is. It is possible that you don't have a pressure problem just a signal problem to the warning light.

Thanks for your reply. This problem has been intermittent until now. I get the oil service done at Oil Changers ... the last service was probably 4,000 mi ago. The oil pressure gague on the F250 is not a real gague. It is connected to the wire on the oil pressure switch and only reads mid-range regardless of the actual pressure (or so I'm told). The location of the oil switch is just above the oil pan in a very hard to get to location.
