Engine oil leak, engine seal gasket separate steel alloy casing from alumimun oil slump causing leak due to temp /expansion different . Known problem from GM engineers.
2002 DTS Oil leaks at bottom of crankcase. Cadillac missed the boat on this issue. I just top off oil to make sure it is full. Cadillac should recall for this problem.
leak started one year ago/mid-engine/2500.00 repair/GM should absorb this cost due to known design flaw.
Vehicle was repaired under Cadillac dealers warranty. Diagnosis in printout used the term "case halves," which were somehow sealed. The term "major engine" also appeared, which I interpret to mean the repair work was major in extent.
Mechanic could not locate specific location. It was either the oil filter adapter gasket or oil pan gasket. Had him replace adapter gasket first, cost $150.00. Now leak has expanded and his price for oil pan gasket repair is $1500.00/16hr labor at $80.00 hr. plus parts. Have appointment at different garage for second opinion.
I started using rear main oil sealant. It slow down the process hopefully it will stop it all together.I also went to a thicker oil.
Just occurred Solution in work once verified. A recent blog reads "Check PCV valve for clogs" before Rear Seal replacement... In Work.
Oil sending unit sensor went out which I replaced, but multiple oil leaks. Transmission problem and power windows off track.I will not buy another cadillac
Lower engine case leak... GM should have the good sense to repair the thousands of issues with this engine. Cadi owners should approach as a class action lawsuit to recover expense of this design flaw and expensive repair. If GM won't fix on their own merit class action lawsuits get many issues resolved in America. I mentioned this leak and the service writer immediately explained the cause and EXPENSE! Of the repair. Someone find an attorney, create a blog, and let's help GM do the right thing...
My car leaks oil and cannot see where its coming from From this report I guess its the lower crankcase which is a very expensive repair to this car.We have a fleet of Cadillac cars and this is the first of my personal car.
My DHS has an oil leak that is getting progressively worst, I am currently using about 2 quarts of oil per month, the leak is seen on garage floor after parking it and during back-up into garage
