OBD II Fault Code

  • OBD II P2452

OBD-II Code Exhaust pressure sensor failure is defined as a Diesel Particulate Filter Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is used to assist in converting leftover exhaust particles to harmless gases. In order to burn off those particles, the temperature of the exhaust system needs to increase. the injection of DEF Fluid into the exhaust stream brings Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) up to temperature. The system is then able to convert harmful NOx to Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, and water. The Reductant Catalyst (SRC) was added to further reduce any NOx was still in the exhaust stream. The Exhaust Pressure Sensor measures exhaust pressure going into and out of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). If the engine computer (PCM) detects an implausible signal from one of the pressure sensors, code P2452 will be set.

    Exhaust pressure sensor failure Symptoms

    • Clean exhaust filter message may appear on the instrument cluster

Common Problems That Trigger the P2452 Code

    • Exhaust leak
    • Exhaust pressure sensor failure
    • Restriction in the exhaust system
