OBD II Fault Code

  • OBD II P0033

OBD-II Code Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure is defined as a Turbocharger/Supercharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit

The Turbo/Supercharger bypass valve diverts remaining boost out the exhaust when the driver lets off the accelerator pedal. When the vehicle's control module (PCM) detects an incorrect signal from the sensor, the PCM will set code P0033.This may send the vehicle into "limp home mode", limiting the amount of power out of the engine, to protect other components from being damaged.

Powertrain Control Module (PCM) failure Symptoms

  • Engine may enter limp home mode (reduced performance)
  • Lack of boost from the turbo/supercharger

Common Problems That Trigger the P0033 Code
