What is your question?
Truck was not accelerating over 40mph. Engine shut off while I was driving so I coasted to the side of the road, added more oil, and was able to start it again. It shut off again a little ways down the road and would not start again after that. I tried jumping it, which didn’t work. I changed the oil once more, confirmed no leak, jumped it again, and it still wouldn’t start. Before the tow truck got there 30 minutes later, my battery was completely drained. I was able to charge my battery to 100% but it still wouldn’t start. I then changed the alternator and recharged the battery and it still won’t start. The engine tries its best to get going but just cannot turn over.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing, not even sure the new alternator helped. The battery does keep losing power slowly but I haven’t left it connected with the new alternator.
How long has your 2020 Ram 1500 had this problem?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Oil leaks and battery issues can be draining. But hopefully, we can get you back on the road! You've done a great job of getting ahead of the issue. Since you've already replaced the alternator and charged the battery, it's possible there are other underlying issues, such as fuel delivery problems and ignition system issues. I'd recommend having a professional mechanic perform a comprehensive diagnostic to pinpoint the exact cause of the starting issue. They can use specialized tools and equipment to test various components and systems to effectively identify and resolve the problem. If you have any other questions, please call us at 877-913-1554!
