i have a 2000gmc jimmy just tuned up, runs good if i floor it but driving normal she will miss and sputter at 1800rpm. some times ses light will come on po300 (random misfire) and then go out later, the catalytic converter makes a rattle noise on start up.been doing this since i bought truck a year ago.

do you have an exhaust leak?? if so, this alone can trigger a 300 code. what was done at the tune up?? the rattling cat will not cause this. Roy
im pretty sure you need a new distributor cap.my blazer has done the same thing twice and replacing the cap fixed it for about a year in between caps.you'll have to replace the whole distributor to fix it long term.
just installed new cap , and miss did go away for about a week
tune up was cap ,rotor, plugs, wires, pcv, air filter, fuel filter.clean crankcase with seafoam. the cat is rattling from inside the case?
you could have an injector with a bad spray pattern. you can get an injector service from a shop for a reasonable cost as replacing the spider assembly can get very pricy. I would try this first. Good Luck Roy
