What is your question?
used my air con maybe a week after alternator was changed and only blowing hot air. I took it back to midas and they said they did notice the freon was low and filled it up before putting everything back. They checked it and said the dye did not show any leaks, therefore they will have to do a diagnostic check to see where the leak is coming from. Could they have done something to cause a leak cuz it was working fine before they touched the car???

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If your A/C was working fine before Midas changed the battery and alternator, it's possible something happened during the repair. Here's the scoop: Changing the alternator or battery shouldn't directly affect the A/C. But if they had to remove or shift components around to get to the alternator, it could've disturbed an A/C line or fitting. Also, disconnecting the battery can reset the car's systems, which might temporarily affect the A/C controls, but that wouldn't cause a leak. Since Midas mentioned the freon was low and added some, it's likely there's a slow leak that became noticeable. The dye test should show any leaks, but if nothing shows up, the diagnostic they suggest should pinpoint it. So, it's not common for changing an alternator to cause an A/C leak, but the timing does make it suspicious. Just let them know that the A/C was blowing cold before they performed the service and ask that they check their work. They can run their checks; hopefully, they can sort it out for you.
