The inflator that deploys the passenger frontal air bag in the event of an accident may rupture and spray metal fragments onto vehicle occupants. This can increase risk of serious injury or death.

Recalls on your affected Toyota, Lexus or Pontiac vehicle must be performed by the respective Toyota, Lexus or General Motors dealership. Toyota and Lexus will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning in March, 2016. General Motors will notify owners of affected Pontiac vehicles (a timetable of this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local appropriate Toyota, Lexus or General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

When deployed due to a crash, the passenger front air bag can deploy abnormally, or with excessive force, causing debris and fragments to strike and injure occupants. 

 

Toyota will notify owners of affective vehicles (a notification timeline has not been released at the time of this writing). Additionally, you may contact your dealership to see if your vehicle is affected. The dealership may ask for your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), so please have it on hand when you contact them. The Toyota recall number is 14V-655.

Certain vehicles are being recalled because the passenger airbag inflator may rupture upon deployment. Vehicle occupants could be struck by metal fragments resulting in personal injury.

Toyota will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles beginning October 25, 2014. As of this writing General Motors has not yet released a notification schedule for Vibe models. If you don't receive notification in a timely manner and believe you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call.

As of this writing General Motors & Toyota have not yet announced a notification schedule for this recall.
