What is your question?
My truck functioned perfect all day and I parked it for the night. I tried to start it the next morning and nothing happened. There was no starter click or noise of any kind when I turned the key but the cluster lights and bells. The lights and bells stopped functioning instantly also and all that remained on was a battery light. I turned the key probably three times and nothing. When I looked down to remove the key and pursue the problem I noticed a very small wisp of smoke coming from what looked like the top of the steering column shroud where it disappears under the dash on the ignition side. It didn't smell and lasted a millisecond. I checked the battery connections and battery they were good. I checked the starter and when the s terminal was hit with 12v it worked properly. I checked all the fuses inside the cab and they were all good. I found the ign b 40amp fuse blown in the engine compartment. I put another fuse in and the results were the same instantly blowing the fuse. I have concluded with the small amount of smoke I saw and fuses blowing there is a short and it's probably the ignition switch. Before I start tearing into the steering column I thought I would ask first if there is any other possibility it could be?
