replaced key lock cylinder, and ignition switch, im not sure of placement of hole in shaft and rod on switch, and what possition is key to install. the car dont crank, and key isnt turing ign. switch when turned.
How long has your 1997 Ford Crown Victoria had this problem?
just happened and had it towed home

Yeap,the Fords are the easiest to replace,just turn the key switch to the run position,push the small screwdriver,pick or some other object into the hole and push the release pin,pull the cylinder out,put the new one in,turn the switch off,you're done,BUT if you have the PATS transponder chip key(thick black plastic keys) the car will not start until those keys are programmed. Without transponder keys(thin keys),then you're all set to go.
