BMW 128i trunk not opening due to lack of power on BMW 128i

Problem overview

Some BMW 128i owners report experiencing issues with their trunk not opening due to a lack of power, often caused by a dead car battery, which can lock them out of the trunk. Others have encountered problems with a malfunctioning trunk release button that prevents access even when the vehicle has power. In certain situations, owners find themselves unable to open the trunk because the key has been accidentally locked inside. To resolve these issues, some owners have successfully provided power directly to the control module behind the glove box to activate the trunk release button for battery installation. Alternatively, connecting a power source to the underhood leads while keeping the driver door open allows them to use the trunk button from the driver's seat without starting the car.
