my fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank no matter how full it is. i have taken the tank out and found that there is 2 fuel sending units. befor i buy a new set i would like to test these. i have hooked them up to car wiring and lifted rod to different possitions and gauge doesnt move. please help

You will need to run a gauge test to rule that out also.I am not sure if aftermarket scanners have this capability,but at the dealer level,we do this test first.Then test each sending unit with a dvom,15-150 ohms is the usual spec.Having a saddle tank usually means that one side stays full when at half tank or above.Alot of folks keep their cars at 1/4 to 1/2 tank most of the time which will cause the empty side to build up a varnish on the sender card,and when they go to fill it up all the way tha gauge does not read due to the sender contamination.
