Heater blower motor?

(2000 Saab 9-5)
in Laurel, MD on July 11, 2010
When I use my A\C on the coldest settings, the middle vent blows relatively cool air, but the sides vents blow really hot air. What could that be? I've charged it, and the compressor seems to work just fine.

It sounds like it could be stuck valves in the ventilation system. There's a blend door motor that is up under the drivers foot panel right against the center console. This operates a door that blends outside air (warm air in the summer) with the cool air from the A/C to get the temperature you request. I know there's a piece on this that is known to break off. If you do a search for blend door motor fix...there should be something out there. It's not a terribly difficult fix if you have a little patience and don't mind hangin around upside down with your head under the dash. Otherwise, I've read that dealers will replace the whole blend door motor and valve unit at a very steep cost. Like I said, look it up, see if it matches your symptoms, then see if it's worth it to you to give it a shot.

Much thanks. I've got a friend at Lincoln Tech who's gonna take a look it this week.
