Could adding about 5 gallons of regular gas to a diesel cause a Fuel Lift Pump failure

What is your question?

Ran engine without knowing I'd added regular fuel. Took 7 days of driving to fail. Factory Bosch Fuel Lift pump had to be replaced, as well as fuel filter. Could the Regular Fuel have caused the problem.

There is nothing good about adding regular gasoline to a Diesel tank. Certainly, regular fuel could cause issues with multiple components.
