Check Engine Light With Code P0400 on Ford Fusion Hybrid

Problem Description and Possible Solution

The Check Engine Light may illuminate with code P0400 stored for an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) fault. Our technicians tell us if no EGR system faults are noted, updated powertrain control module (PCM) is available which should correct this issue.

"Service engine soon" light came on just prior to a routine oil/filter change...tech hooked up to the OBD-II, reported the code...quick lookup on the internet suggested this was likely a common issue, no other problems were evident, so I simply had the tech reset the computer. Will note the interval if it comes on again.
I took the car to Pep Boys for a free check engine scan and they reported the problem as PO400. After the scan the light turned off on its own.
