just tuned it up/ check engine light comes on. Has come on intermittently - misfire on #6 has showed up; and now, did total tune-up and check engine light is still on. Stayed off for about a half hour; came on and stays on.

Try swapping the coil to cyl #5, the plug to cyl. 4 etc. When the code switches cylinders you will know what the problem is based on what part was moved to that cylinder. Don't move more than 1 part to the same cylinder.
my 2006 did this and I replaced the spark plug wires. Never came on again...
