What is your question?
I have a 2018 Volt and AC is broken, I've been told there was a freon leak and it took out the compressor and other components. While I'm trying to fix it can I still run and charge the car without damaging anything else? I'm most concerned about the battery. I don't know if for some strange reason the AC cools the battery while its charging or something like that. I only ask because the dealer I went to knew nothing about the volt and couldn't tell me for sure that the AC was only for the cabin.

Hello, the AC system does not cool the hybrid battery. There is a cooling system that supports this, but is not affiliated with the refrigerant system. Be wary, though, of the compressor - if it has failed, it could bind, causing a running condition, engine stall, or throwing the drive belt.
