What is your question?
Hello, I have a 2010 Chrysler T&C with 85.000 miles..I have owned it for 1 year, purchased from a local Honda dealer, and it has driven fine. Recently I experienced my transmission not shifting to a higher gear and driving in "limp home" mode. I can drive the T&C around town and if it should go into limp mode, I can shut engine off, restart and proceed home normally. My mechanic found codes P0792 and P0734, and told me I need to replace the transmission. I drove the van home, did some reading and discovered this could be electrical and not mechanical. I also see this can be quite complicated. I do not want to spend $4000 and perhaps not even fix the problem. Who can diagnose such intricate electrical problems and how expensive is only the diagnosis? Can a diagnosis take us straight to the problem for a fix, or is this a hit or miss procedure that runs expensive and time consuming???? Can most mechanics deal with these codes or are they for the specially trained in electrical a
What makes this problem better or worse?
electrical or mechanical??? How to know without trial and error
How long has your 2010 Chrysler Town & Country had this problem?
...a few weeks...I can drive it on short runs and feel confident. Transmission feels strong and smooth when not in limp home mode

I would get a second opinion from a trained technician that has experience with these vehicles and their transmissions. That said, electrical concerns often come from inside the transmission assembly, and the only practical repair is replacement. Before I spend $4,000+ dollars, I'd sure get another opinion. Focus on finding trained techs that are familiar with your Chrysler.
