Cam seal / Adjuster replacement.

(2002 Audi A6 Quattro)
in Simi Valley, CA on January 03, 2011
How much might this cost (how many hours? I have a 2002 A6 2.7t and oil is leaking out the back of the engine. I was told I need cam adjuster seals / plugs replaced. Major work and a lot of labor involved. I had timing belt changed as car has 102k a little while back. Audi said they would not change these items when timing belt is changed.

On these engines - when cam adjuster seals start to leak - the best to do is to remove and reseal the entire engine.
I don't know if the front seals were replaced during the timing belt job, but they should done those too. It's hard to work on this engine, as you can see there is not much room or access to anything while it's under the hood.

Do they have to pull engine? That is scary as they are bound to mess something else up.
