General motors llc (gm) is recalling certain 2016-2017 buick envision vehicles. the affected vehicles received a replacement headliner as part of a repair. these service parts might not have had impact energy-absorbing foam blocks attached. as such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor safety standard (fmvss) number 201, "occupant protection in interior impact."

A headliner replaced during a vehicle service visit may not have enough impact energy-absorbing foam blocks attached, and as a result may not protect occupants adequately in an accident. This would increase risk of occupant injury.

Recall repairs on your Buick must be performed by a General Motors dealership. General Motors will notify known owners of affected (a timetable of this notification is not available as of the time of this writing). If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local General Motors dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The General Motors recall number is 17275.

For vehicle equipped with an accessory called the NSV Universal Tablet Holder, the accessory may have been installed incorrectly onto the front seat head restraints, preventing the restraint posts from fully engaging in the seat back.  This would cause the restraints to not be secure in an accident, increasing risk of injury.
