I have a 2001 PT Cruiser. On state inspection, noted that the brake lights were not working. Mechanic said fuses and bulbs were good. Where do you start looking to fix the problem?

Look at the six wire brake light switch at the pedal the pink/dark blue wire should have 12volts, with the pedal pressed the white/tan wire should have 12 volts that is sent to the rear lights if the switch is good.
