What is your question?
Hello, I have developed a severe oil leak in the last couple thousand miles..it has come to leaking about 2 qts in less than a 100 miles....which is horrible!! I can smell it burning so it is obviously dripping onto the exhaust somewhere....I just pressure washed it to try to locate its origin...but...so far I have not been able to see exactly where it is coming from....any tips on some known fails and locations would certainly be appreciated. Thanks
What makes this problem better or worse?
Well it seems to be worse if driving harder (higher rpms)
How long has your 1999 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG had this problem?
the last couple thousand miles

That is a crazy amount of oil to be leaking. The 113 engine did have some areas that commonly leaked so start with these. Valve cover gaskets and the upper breather chambers. The front timing cover pressure port. Oil cooler seals Rear main seal With this big of a leak it should show itself once everything is cleaned. If you can't find it then bring it to a good Euro shop before you damage the engine. Alex
if you pressure washed that engine, you may have more problems soon if not already....
Thanks AskAlex….I will look at those areas first....1clubinside?? What do you mean "if you pressure washed that engine, you may have problems soon or already..." to make a statement like that without any explanation...is harsh man :-) because you have me wondering what is it that could be so bad about it?? I always get nervous when doing that in the first place...but it seemed like the thing to do since there was just so much damn oil everywhere....it already toasted the serpentine belt...just had to replace that last weekend...im sure do to the oil softening it...I didn't want it to work its evil upon other components...but now your saying that I further damaged other things because of it?? Please do explain if you would...thanks
Well, from what I've seen in the past from folks pressure washing their engines, due to all the sensitive electrical components,computers,ignition,sensors,alternator,fuse/relay box, they tend to spray water on everything without covering these things first, then they come here only to say that their vehicles won't start since pressure washing their engines. Not long ago a person was on here because of pressure washing their engine in their Jaguar and stated every since, it would not start again.I understand that you were trying to get the oil off to see if you could find where it is leaking, and maybe you were careful and didn't get water into anything that will cause problems and hope you didn't. Sorry for being so harsh and good luck to you.
