Looking for an answer as to why my 99 Audi A6 Quattro with automatic transmission seems to jerk back when shifting into 2nd, 3rd & 4th gear as well as when it downshifts from 4th to 3rd to 2nd. It almost feels like its resembles a vacuum or sucking into the gears. No problem putting it in reverse or drive. Recently had one fuel injector replaced. Car runs fine and gets decent gas milage for being 10 years old. Only has 53,000 mi.

Shift quality issues on these transmission can be caused by incorrect fluid level. There is no dipstick so the fill procedure needs to be followed exactly. You should scan your vehicle for any transmission fault codes , and address them. Similarly scan the engine electronics for fault codes and address them. Perform a "throttle adaptation" via the scan tool. Finally you should perform the "basic setting" procedure for the transmission , also via the scan tool.
i had the same problem on my 1996 audi... and at first i thought it was the transmission fluid.. i got that changed and still kept on happening. i then took it to see an audi professional and they said 2 things. either the transmission is old and needs to be replaced or that it was in 'default mode' and the 'electronic range switch' needs to be replaced. i opted for the range switch and what do u know it's driving like heaven
