4wd shift in progress

What is your question?

Very randomly at startups, I notice I am getting a message reading "4wd shift in progress". The messsage appears when starting the vehicle only for an instant, then disappears. I never receive the message while driving. What does this message mean ? Is it normal ?

What makes this problem better or worse?

Not sure. Appears Randomly.
