I wouldn't suspect engine timing issues first. You have a chain though.
Scan the car for codes, post up trouble codes. This could be low fuel pressure, ignition issue, etc. Most auto parts stores will scan it for free.

The G5 uses 2 timing chains, 2 tensioners, 2 cam gears, 2 balance cam gears, & crankshaft gear. I recently changed my timing chains on my 07 G5 & it really was not that hard with basic knowledge & youtube video's. The issue i am having is my cooling fan. There is 3 relay junctions in the underwood fuse box. 1 is "cool fan" the other 2 are cool fan 1 & 2 (high speed & low speed) in a 07 Pontiac g5 mine uses the 5510-0329 relays for cool fan 1 & 2 but, what relay goes in the 5 pin control marked only "cool fan"??????
