i have a 94 ford ranger i have replaced the tps sensor and the truck still boggs down and has no get up go and will not hold speed going up hill and the end of the tailpipe is blackend what could be giving me this trouble
HOW TO FIX YOUR PROBLEM: replace the mass air flow sensor.... or first try cleaning the old one. theres a special cleaner for it- "mass air flow sensor cleaner". ive also heard you can soak the sensor filament tip (not the whole thing, but just the tip that looks like a lightbulb filament) in white vinegar for 8-10 hours and let it dry, allegedly the vinegar will eat away the buildup. cleaning or replacing that sensor should eliminate any hesitation, sputtering, or bogging down with the 4.0.... this is a common problem, and this is usually the culprit
Manual trans, same issue. Not as bad in cooler and less humid weather. Removed weatherstrip on top of firewall to help airflow. I feel my leaking exhaust manifold is causing high under hood temps, somehow contributing to the problem.
