Toyota Pickup Problems

Worn Shift Bushings Will Cause Manual Transmission to Pop Out of Gear on Toyota Pickup

Problem Description and Possible Solution

On vehicles with a manual transmission, worn shift bushings can cause the transmission to pop out of gear, especially when coasting down in 1st or 2nd gear. Replacing all the shift linkage bushings is pretty straight forward and not expensive and will commonly correct this concern.

pops out of gear in 2nd 3rd and 4th , I have to hold the shifter in place or it pops out. More so when slowing down. I also must wait 5 or more seconds before shifting into reverse or it grinds the gears. The clutch is fine , only 1.5 years old.
Pops out of first when slowly going down hill. Usually a steep hill where first is needed for controlled decent.
First, fourth, and fifth pop out of gear unexpected especially when I'm stopped or going into gear coasting.
pops out of gear when on uneven terrain
fixed by staying on even terrain ..... or holding gearshift in place
