What could be wrong with this car and are 1996 landrover discovery and bad car?

Are 1996 landrover discovery good cars i bought one and i have had problems like loud humming noise in engine, replace alternator , rattleing noise in the engine, heat/ac system comes on and want go off the heater comes on more and get's really hot. So, i'm starting to think i have a lemon.
