Kia Sorento Problems

Updated Timing Chain Tensioner to Correct Noise on Startup on Kia Sorento

Problem Description and Possible Solution

If the engine is excessively noisy on startup (after the engine has been off for several hours) and the noise lasts more than four or five seconds, turn off the engine and check for correct engine oil level. If the oil level is correct, the noise may be caused by the timing chain tensioner. Kia released an updated timing chain tensioner to solve this problem.

Makes irritating rattling noise upon startup. Bought extended warranty but dealership claims warranty company won't fix unless the noise lasts "longer".
noisey on start up after setting 1-2 hours just bought vehicle. have to take back to dealer.
on start up of a cold engine, it makes a horrific noise and if setting for 2 hrs on startup...kinda scary???
All signs point to timing chain. Kia dealership charged me dignostic fee - told me to replace entire engine and gave me an oil change.
Problem is same as others stated in there response ; after car has set idle for at least 2 hrs, rattle or clicking noise at start up. Mileage 83,000 mi. Had check at dealership 2 weeks ago & was told " That just the nature of the vehicle " or " We believe it is the fuel pump " , but I do have to admit I bought the car second hand , out of state & the dealership in state has made good on warranty work several times & a couple times at quite an expense to them & no cost to myself !!!
I have had this god awful rattle type sound when i start my car. It is anytime after it sits for a few hours and really bad in the mornings. After reading this the sound does sound like a chain hitting type noise.
3 months after I bought my 2011 sorento I started hearing the same noise. I brought it into Kia and they had my car for over 5 months. They replace the timing chain, tensioner, transaxle inhibitor switch, intake manifold, and camshafts. They took a recording of the sound of my car and sent it off to California for a technician to look over. And from there they sent it off over seas to Korea and results came back that the noise is "normal" for this vehicle for have more than 50,000 miles. Now my car has 140,000 miles and still makes that noise. I have had several technicians at different shops try to figure it out and have had no luck.
It sounds like loud squeaking that dowsnt let up. The entire time the vehicle is running the aound occurs.
loud knock on start up doesnt go away, oil level low, put in new oil, oil is black sludge, was mixed with synthetic and 30 weight , putting in new engine, need timing for a 2009 sorento chains.
Engine has loud noise and screeching noise when it starts up cold, usually in the AM.
Local dealer said it will cost $2000 to fix and $400 labor to take apart and diagnose.
engine makes bad noise upon initial cranking in the morning. oil level is good and oil is maintained
Vehicle making unsettling noise when started after sitting for several hours. Dealership told me I have to have my Cam Shaft replaced and that it would be SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS to fix.
loud tick at start up until warmed up and then will slighting leave ,, sounds like a timing chain
Just got the car 2 weeks ago. Several mornings upon cranking the engine it has bade a horrible clanking/screeching sound. Dealership I'm buying it from thinks I'm crazy and they don't open till after 9 and I never have the problem after cranking it first thing in the morning. I'm paying 11000 for the car when is all said and done I refuse to fix it less then a month into buying it, but at least now I can tell them what the heck is making the noise.
