Removal and dis-assembly of the transmission will be required to replace the broken 35R wave plate. It is also extremely important that all debris from the failed part be cleaned from the transmission while it is disassembled in order to try and prevent future problems.Google+

Saturn Aura Transmission Fault and/or Check Engine Light With Code P0716, P0776, P0717, P0777, P2714, P2715, and/or P02723
Saturn Aura Problem
Average Mileage: 82,583 mi (59,500 mi - 99,500 mi)
The car would not go in reverse and would not consistently move forward when put in drive. It was covered by the manufactures insurance and it was repaired at a GM (chevrolet) service department. They had to take a part the transmission and replace the wave plate and many other parts of the transmission and engine. It took them about 20 days to repair. Much of that was spent waiting for parts.

Check engine light came on and car was very sluggish and shifted hard. I took the car to my regular mechanic and he confirmed the codes were transmission errors. He does not work on transmissions and when he tried to pull the car out of the bay it woudl not work in reverse. Had it towed to a tranny shop and they confirmed it was the wave plate. Waiting on the final cost of the repair but it was $400 to pull the tranny and diagnose so just need the repair cost.

Slipping of gears and no reverse
I had this same problem but it was covered under my extended warrenty. The dealer is trying to get me to pay $290.00 to flush the torque converter but I don't think thats needed. Does anyone know if I should do this.
